It's as good for you as they say it is, so why not get more of it into your system?
Turmeric has been proven to reduce eczema on the skin by fighting inflammation from within. Here are three easy-to-do recipes to help you incorporate more turmeric into your diet.

Golden Smoothie: This brightly coloured drink is the perfect way to kick start your metabolism and start your day on the right note. It’s naturally sweet and packed with nutrients that gives your body, as well as your mind, a clear and energizing boost.

1 frozen banana, peeled and sliced
1 cup of pineapple or mango

½ cup carrot juice
½ cup almond milk or filtered water
1 tbsp lemon juice

½ tsp fresh ginger
¼ tsp ground turmeric powder

Blend all the ingredients together and drink it on your way to work, the gym or your morning class.

Turmeric Masala Chai: Masala is the Indian word for a spice blend, most notably those used in teas (aka chai). This ancient medicinal drink has a plethora of health benefits, most notably it is able to help boost and improve digestion. Many spice merchants have already-made Masala Chai blends that you can buy. But if you’d like to try it out first, these are the main ingredients:

¼ tsp ground cloves
¼ tsp ground cardamom

¼ tsp ground ginger
¼ tsp ground fresh black pepper
¼ ground turmeric
¼ ground cinnamon
1 tsp coconut sugar or honey to taste
1 cup almond milk or freshly boiled water

Using a mortar, grind the spices together, then add to a saucepan with the water or almond milk and bring to a boil. Drink warm.

Turmeric Iced Tea Tonic: This refreshingly tropical, spicy and citrus drink is perfect to sip on midday, at lunch and with friends, while you reap from its anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting benefits. Perfect for those who have been feeling under the weather. This recipe makes a large 2 liter jug that can be consumed throughout the week.

1.5L fresh orange juice
500ml coconut water

1 tsp turmeric powder
1 cinnamon stick
2 cardamom pods
½ tsp grated fresh ginger
¼ tsp cracked fresh black pepper

First, combine the ground spices in a small cup and add a dash of boiled water to make a paste. Combine the OJ with the coconut water and then all the spices, including the cinnamon stick and the cardamom pods. Stir and serve with ice and a lime round.
